We are a family-owned tree nursery based in Arthur, Illinois, the “Heart of Amish Country.”
In 2015 we purchased the business from Higgins Tree Farm in Gays, Illinois. We have expanded the business to approximately 50 acres of shade and landscape trees. We also grow thousands of potted oak trees, fruit trees, conifers, and shrubs each year. Primarily trees for wildlife and habitat restoration. Each year we also plant thousands of trees in CRP projects around the Midwestern USA.
Creating and enhancing deer habitat with fruit and nut trees is a large part of our business utilizing bare root, potted, balled & burlapped trees and switchgrass & miscanthus rhizomes. We are a dealer and utilize (Real World Wildlife Products)
Gingerich Tree Farm saw the need for a line of apple and other mast-bearing trees that are bred for wildlife applications where constant care is not always available and disease resistance is of the utmost importance. After much research, we teamed up with apple-breeder Andy Andreas to bring such trees to the wildlife land manager.
The special varieties we sell are absolutely the most disease-resistant trees you can buy anywhere. Our trees are bred for disease resistance, longevity, bountiful crops of fruit, and later bloom dates (to ensure a crop when a late frost occurs in the spring). In fact, our specialty trees can easily produce fruit for 100 years. Imagine the disappointment when your discount tree doesn’t produce fruit or dies 5-10 years after planting. There is simply no management practice you can do that will make up for starting out with inferior trees.
